Through out this whole process it was was easier at times to be a roll model but sometimes hard because i have never really thought about teaching someone to use a lacrosse stick one step at a time and tell them how to move their limbs and do movements.
I know that my buddy is definitely a runner and had an easier time and a more engaging time when he played the tagging games, but sometimes when hitting the ball with a bat and using the lacrosse stick he was not as engaged. Right off of the bat I think that my buddy and i clicked in the sense off he loves to learn and loves english and loves cartoons and creativity, so i used ways to teach my buddy in creative ways he would understand. I learned about my buddy and the class he is in and how they take so much interest in the little things, and how much creativity and imagination they have. I think i had under estimated them at first but once i got to see how they worked it was reassuring that we were not the only ones still getting used to meeting new people.
the very last day our class went to their classroom to see the work they do and talk to them about grade 5. It was pretty awesome, mr. neuf wasnt there and neither was my buddy. but i got a card from him and it was adorable because we always have talks about super hereos and tv characters and he drew me that stuff on my card. For the rest of the buddies We talked to the buddies and then went out on to he field and i explained a variation of rock paper scissors and it was clear that they were engaged and loved to play. in the moment it was clear we were all clmfortable with ourselves!

:) I am happy that this was positive for both of you. You are getting a little glimpse into why I get so much out of being with you guys. I am always watching and learning about what I can do to help you be your best… and lots of times that is to actually step back. :) Hopefully you are starting to see how your buddy needed different stuff than other buddies… just like our class. You don't need me to be the same teacher as say Rhiann. That is why I always say "the same is not fair… everyone getting what they need is fair". Once you can get your head around that you will be able to let go of the classic kid problems of what others "have" and focus on what you need… and what you can do to get others what they need. It is a fluid process so you never get exactly right but it is what I like to call a "work into" goal that while not attainable is totally worth trying for. :)
