Parent Project Midterm by Papa Garcia

DIGITAL PORTFOLIO

1) Have you read your son/daughters blog?
Yes, i've read my daughters blog.

Was there anything that surprised you or stood out immediately?
yes, i never thought my daughter did such a good job at organizing activities and taking charge. I never thought taking p.e class is as complicated as it was before, like running around the pond,or capture the flag or even blogging.

What was your favourite part about reading his/her reflections?
my favourite part about reading her reflections is when I saw that she was doing great at working with friends, and getting comments from her teacher. I'm pretty sure he is going in the right direction and setting a good goal for her in her life.

What did you learn about your son/daughter that you didn't know before reading the blog?
i didn't know she knew that much sports and that she liked lacrosse.  I thought she usually stuck to basketball and volleyball and music.

What part of your child's growth/personality has been reaffirmed for you?
that she is beginning to be an organized person and running games, starting to make more goals, and stepping up, and improving on her beep test. She is maturing.

What is missing in the blog that you think s/he should include for the teacher or peers?
i don't think her blog is missing a lot, she should maybe just add more about her interests that make her happy, while trying to live healthy.  she also mentioned in her reflection that she sometimes comments on peoples blogs, she should comment more.

If you were evaluating him/her on his/her blogging efforts, what would you say?
it is an excellent blog, she has a lot to say about her fitness program and her personal fitness. from her blog you can tell she works really hard and I agree with her teacher that she needs to rest, she needs to stop staying up late.

What would you give him/her out of 25? How did you come up with that number?
i would give her a 22 because it is a good blog and good topic, she talks about what she did wrong and how she helped. she also has pictures and videos. i think that she can improve because no one is perfect so she doesn't get a 25.

HEALTHY LIVING:

2) What do you notice about your child's health choices outside of school?

she frequently goes to our club house to work out or dance, she has always liked vegetables so she eats healthy a lot.

What activity and or diet choices does s/he make on their own?
working out, cutting down on rice, and joining her mom and her brother and sister in a healthy competition.

What exercise/eating choices are encouraged buy the family/household?
her mother likes to walk, and we recently bought 4 bikes so we can go biking, in the summer we like to go hiking. for eating i make a lot of vegetables and meat not a lot of pasta or carbohydrates.

Did you see any evidence of this in his/her blog? What is missing that should be included?
Yes i saw pictures of her salad and also her talking about eating healthier and drinking more water. I don't think there is a lot that is missing and should be included.

What improvements do you think your child could/should make to further his/her understanding and participation in his/her own health?
eat less junk food, and eat healthier foods. Sleep early and take care of her well being more often.

What things can you as parent do to push this learning/practice?
proper advice on getting more rest, and making sure she goes to sleep.

If you were to evaluate your son/daughter on their progress towards personal healthy life choices what would you say?
I'm very well satisfied, and hope she continues to get in shape and live healthier because it will help her in the near future.

What mark would you give them out of 25 for his/her efforts and demonstration of those efforts in the blog?
How did you come up with that number?
23 because she talks about liking working out and to likes it at home, she also eats healthy and talks about it too. 2 points off because she can blog more and sleep earlier.

Fatness Friday?

   FATNESS FRIDAY
Our class hasn't done fitness in a long time, which honestly sucks. However we got a chance to get back to the grind since our buddies were unavailable today. Even though we haven't done fitness in long we still set the tone for p.3 along with some of petersons class and the super fit class. All three of our classes were on one wall going the long way. I won't lie at first I was sure I was gonna completely quit and not be in the mood, however Nicole and I decided to workout together because we knew we could both have fun but manage to work a major sweat.
In addition to that we did locomotion beside the super fit 12 boys and honestly they looked like this was a warm up to them it was insane. While I was over there sweating with the red face and secretly dying they were nonchalantly doing the exercises. Although It was tiring I managed to do the activities beside them and at least keep up with them, i don't think they noticed though. Mr. P came up to nicole and I and told us we were doing great and working up a crazy sweat especially because our faces were red, Ms Phillips also said that I did good on the whole creativity aspect, and keeping myself on track.
During the beginning I helped my peers by notifying them what activity was next, and I knew that no one could read the board from far ways so I decided to go up and check.

In the end it felt good to be back and to know that I managed to do the activities without leaving for water, and pushing myself. I'm also proud of today for the fact that I ate completely healthy and had granola, apple, lots of water, and some fruit for breakfast, also because I turned down the chance to get a ride to school so I can walk, I also walked home too (: Now time to rest up.

I WILL ADD PICTURES LATER.

Double class Dragon Tails

on wednesday both classes had gotten together to play a fun, but simultaneously competitive game of dragon tails.
We haven't played against each other since speed ball which we won, but however the time around we lost. Good effort to our band class and good job to the other class too! Y'all deserved it. This didn't go well as for the planning strategies because we had two very different groups of people in our band class, there were some, mostly girls who tried proposing plans for defence or to sneak the ball to the other side and score. It was a tight game until the end I think only because too many opinions were voiced but only few were heard. The two groups when in the huddle were the people all trying to talk and the people who just want to run for it. I won't lie the running for it did work (thanks Kyle) but the way people weren't listening to each other made it frustrating. It came to the point were we constantly reminding each other to be quiet, and I wanted to step in and take charge but decided to let others voice their opinions and try to take charge (i don't know if this was a good thing or not) In the change room we talked to each other (the girls) and the other girls in the change room, some mentioned that it was apparent that our class was a little frustrated and took a lot of time. I think individuals in our class were disappointed and frustrated because there was a lack of communication, and people felt like every time there was a trial and error they would put out their idea for it only to be shot down.
WE NEED TO COMMUNICATE PROPERLY.
